Does Drinking White Wine Also Exhibit Health Benefits


Admittedly, I have concentrated my research on how drinking red wines can help us stay healthier. To be fair, let’s look at whites, even if you do not prefer to drink it, something on which most red drinkers agree.

Some studies have shown that the effects of white wine and red wine are fairly comparable. But in some instances, whites have exhibited better antioxidants than reds. The antioxidants are instrumental in fighting bad cholesterol and cardiovascular diseases.

Through the fermentation process, wines attain a much higher rate of antioxidants, and alcohol in any form aids in the absorption of antioxidants by the body. Researchers say that drinking wine is far better for your health than drinking grape extract, for example.

US studies have found that free radicals in the bloodstream are lowered by 15% if you drink reds, but by 34% if you drink white wine. Likewise, the same studies discovered that the clotting ability of the blood is lowered by 10% with red wines and 20% by whites.

The American Thoracic Society found that whites have a greater likelihood of benefiting lung health than red wines. As a matter of fact, the nutrients in whites were more responsible in their studies for improving lung function better than alcohol in other forms beer, wine coolers, hard liquor, or red wines.

So, what is a wine drinker to do Drink a glass or two of red or white wine to boost your blood’s antioxidant level. Both types of wine maximize antioxidants at 100% after two glasses are consumed.
